The Case for Wetlands

Friday, April 12, 2024
7:00pm - 9:00pm Eastern Sharon, Connecticut

99 West Cornwall Road, Sharon, 06069, CT

Once you turn onto the Miles Wildlife Sanctuary property, continue on the narrow dirt road past the two houses you'll see on your right (one is a stone house, the other a large red one). This road will terminate in a small parking area shortly thereafter at the top of a small hill. Instructors will meet participants there.
Ever wonder why wetlands are valuable? Or why they’re protected natural environments? Experience the enchantment of a wetland habitat with Joseph Markow, Science Teacher at the Cornwall Consolidated School and amphibian enthusiast, as he introduces participants to the ecological functions of the wetland of the Sharon Audubon Center’s Emily Winthrop Miles property. Participants will become acquainted with the flora and fauna of this natural environment, in addition to having opportunities to discuss the challenges (and opportunities) wetlands face in the town of Sharon, CT.
Participants should come prepared for cold weather and light rain, with sturdy footwear (waterproof footwear ideal), and either a flashlight or headlamp.

This program is co-sponsored by the Sharon Inland Wetlands Commission.

Adults only: ages 18+
Pre-registration is required
