The Fresh Eggs Daily Cookbook

March 3 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm | Free

Lisa Steele, author of The Fresh Eggs Daily Cookbook in Conversation with Bruce Weinstein

The Hotchkiss Library, in collaboration with the Essex Public Library and the Darien Public Library, will host the “Queen of the Coop” Lisa Steele.  A native New Englander and resident of Maine, Steele left behind a career on Wall Street to live the farmer’s life.  With over 1 million followers, Steele is the go-to eggspert on how to raise chickens and what to do with all those eggs, when your hens are laying.

Learn recipes, tips, and tricks for expanding your egg repertoire beyond the usual breakfast fare of fried and scrambled.  Learn why you should never salt eggs before they finish cooking; the best way to hard boil eggs so that they peel easily; why you should never beat cold egg whites but should separate eggs while they are still cold; and why you should eat the yolk! Curious about using goose, quail, duck, and turkey eggs?  Steele has guidance on substituting them in your cooking and baking.

Steele is a fifth-generation chicken keeper and the author of five books on chicken and poultry raising. She will be in conversation with bestselling cookbook author and food podcaster, Bruce Weinstein.  Join us on Thursday, March 3 at 7 pm on Zoom.  This community library collaboration is free and all are welcome.  Registration is required in order to receive the Zoom link.  Register at: https://hotchkisslibraryofsharon.org/event/eggs.
