Beach Stickers Now Available
Residents of the Town of Sharon may obtain their BEACH STICKERS throught the Selectmen's Office.  If a renter, proof of residency is required - bring in either: lease or note from the landowner stating that you are at the address OR a utility bill in their name with the street address.  EVEN IF THIS WAS PREVIOUSLY PRESENTED.  All residents must know the license plate of the vehicle(s) that the sticker will be placed on.

Beach stickers are $20.00 for the first and $10.00 for any additional; all Senior Citizen stickers are $5.00.

Stickers are purchased in Selectmen's Office M-F 9 to 12 and 1-4 or by mail.

Provide your name, local address, phone #, license plate #'s, proof of residency; if renter along with name of property owner, your check payable to Town of Sharon, and a STAMPED SELF-ADDRESSED BUSINESS SIZE ENVELOPE to:

  Dog License Renewal Time

NOTICE

The Town Clerk's office would like to remind ALL DOG OWNERS that dog licenses must be renewed between June 1st and June 30th EACH YEAR.

DOG LICENSING FACTS

All dogs over six months must be licensed.
All dogs must be licensed by June 30th of each year.  A one dollar fee will be charged for each month late.
All dogs must have a current rabies vaccination.
A license is a lost dog's ticket home.
Licensing provides vaccination steriliazation benefits for pets.

Sec. 22-338. Licensing of dogs. Fees. Rabies certificate. Exemptions. (a) Each owner or keeper of a dog of the age of six months or older, except dogs kept under a kennel license as provided in section 22-342, shall cause such dog to be licensed in the town clerk's office in the town where such dog is kept, on or before June thirtieth, annually, or at such time as such dog becomes six months old, and annually thereafter, on or before June thirtieth. The owner or keeper shall pay to such town clerk for such license the sum of seven dollars for each neutered male or spayed female dog and the sum of twelve dollars for each unneutered male dog and each unspayed female dog, and one additional dollar in each case as the town clerk's fee for issuing a tag and license as provided in section 22-340. Two dollars from each license fee collected for a neutered or spayed dog shall be deposited into the animal population control account, established under section 22-380g. If an owner or keeper of a dog fails to procure a license as required by this section, such owner or keeper shall pay the appropriate license fee specified in this section, the town clerk's fee and a penalty of one dollar for each month or fraction thereof the dog remains unlicensed.

(b) Any owner or keeper applying for a license for a dog under subsection (a) of this section, except for those owners or keepers possessing a rabies vaccination exemption certificate, or a copy thereof, issued pursuant to section 22-339b, shall submit to the town clerk a rabies certificate signed by a licensed veterinarian, or a copy thereof, stating that such dog has been vaccinated against rabies, the date of the vaccination and the duration of the immunity provided by the vaccine. No license shall be issued unless the certificate indicates that the immunity provided by the vaccine is effective at the time of licensing.

(c) Any owner or keeper applying for a license for a dog pursuant to subsection (a) of this section that has been exempted from vaccination against rabies pursuant to section 22-339b shall submit to the town clerk a rabies vaccination exemption certificate issued by the department, or a copy thereof, in lieu of a rabies certificate.

(d) This section shall not apply to any dog which is imported into this state for exhibition purposes and which does not remain in this state for more than thirty days. Any person may import, from another state, any licensed dog with collar, tag and rabies vaccination certificate, and keep the same in this state for not more than thirty days, without complying with the provisions of this section.

  Taghhannuck Grange Rummage & Plant Sale

Taghhannuck Grange Rummage & Plant Sale

Taghhannuck Grange is happy to announce that we will again feature the vast array of plants, both flowers and vegetables, as part of our annual fund raising rummage sale.  Many people come long distances for our plant sale alone.   We have a large variety of flowers and vegetables at very good value.  Every year we get raves about our plant sale.
On Saturday, June 4th from 9am to 2 pm at the Sharon Grange Hall which is located on 7 Dunbar Road, off Route #4 behind Ellsworth Hill Farm the Grange will be holding a Rummage sale inside the hall and a plant sale outside the hall.   The plant sale features large healthy plants ready for your garden including heirloom varieties.  The rummage sale has something for everyone at bargain prices. 
Donations will be gratefully accepted at the Hall on Tuesday, May 31st and Wednesday, June 1st from 10am to noon.  We also will receive donations Thursday evening June 2nd from 6pm to 8 pm.  Everything should be clean and in working order. Please no furniture or televisions.  If you can not donate during the posted hours or have any questions about the sale call Brent Prindle at (860) 364-5373.
All funds raised benefit the numerous community service projects, donations, and future programs and activities of Taghhannuck Grange including the Dictionary Project where we give dictionaries to each 3rd grade student in the towns of Sharon, Cornwall, Warren and Kent.

Opening Day for the Sharon Sunday Adult Co-Ed Softball League is June  5th, 2pm 

Veterans Field, 29 Sharon Station Road

This is an open league for all adults living in the Sharon, 
Connecticut area. In this inaugural season, we will play pick-up games on Sunday's at 2pm, with the hopes to grow it into a more formal league in the near future.

  Memoir-writing Workshop

Memoir-writing Workshop with Carol Ascher

Saturday, June 4, 11am - 3pm

On Saturday, June 4, from 11am - 3pm, the Hotchkiss Library of Sharon will host a Memoir Writing Workshop with author Carol Ascher. 

The four-hour session will begin with a conversation about what participants want to write, as well as what is holding them back. Two writing sessions will each be followed by opportunities for participants to read their work and respond to that of others.  

Ascher will use participants' writing to discuss such critical subjects as veracity, narrative voice, pacing, character, and dramatic arc.
