Town of Sharon Recreational Easements, created by Connecticut General Statutes 13a-141(b)

 Please enjoy these historic roads,

These non-maintained trails are subject to the following regulations:

Use at your own risk

No motorized vehicles

Dawn to dusk use only

Stay on trail

Dogs to be leashed at all times

Please respect the property rights of adjacent landowners.

All directions are from the four way intersection of Routes 4 and 41 by the clocktower.

Fairchild Road- out and back, .7 mi. each way

Head north, toward Salisbury, on Route 41

At 1 mile, turn right on Calkinstown Road

Take the 3rd right on Jewett Hill Road and bear left at the end

Turn left on Fairchild and continue until it ends

Park at the pull out on the right where the road dead ends.

The trailhead sign for the easement is to the left of the driveway.

Bear to the left and follow the trail markers

 

Morey Road - out and back, 1.2 mi. each way

Head east on Route 4 toward Cornwall Bridge

At 4.5 miles, bear right onto Dunbar Road.

At the end of Dunbar, turn right on Westwoods 2

When the road forks, bear left on South Ellsworth Road

Take the 3rd left on Morey Road

At the end of the road, there is a pull out on the left just before the last driveway.

The trailhead sign is at the end of the paved road.

Although the easement ends, you can follow the road bed

until it connects with the Appalachian Trail Stony Brook campsite along the Housatonic River.

Smith Road from Route 4 - out and back, .8 each way

Head east on Route 4 toward Cornwall Bridge

At 1.4 miles turn left

This is the junction of Smith Road and Old Sharon Road 3.

Park on the side of the road, leaving it clear for other vehicles.

There is also parking pull out .3 miles up Smith Road

Follow the road past the house to the trailhead sign

The easement runs from Route 4 to Sharon Mountain Road

Due to current conditions, the only access is from the Route 4 end.
